‘God of War’ studio Santa Monica working on a new IP

Share

The studio behind the successful franchise God of War, Sony’s Santa Monica, is working on a brand new game, as per its recent job listings.

Santa Monica is currently hiring for an unannounced fantasy-based project. On its website, it recently listed several job roles.

What’s next from Santa Monica?

Interestingly, 2018’s God of War recently completed its three years of launch this month. And now, the news of Santa Monica working on a new title will only make the fans even more pumped up.

Speaking of the job listings then the studio has posted the role for a senior character concept artist.

The chosen candidate for the position will be developing characters for “fantasy-based worlds.”

Plus, he/she must have the skills to “render realistic, believable fantasy-based creatures, characters, and props.”

It means that the new project is moving ahead at a good pace at the moment.

It’s still unclear, though, whether or not the next IP from Santa Monica will add to something or a new title in itself.

Fans will expect a lot from this unnamed game. But before this, they will also witness the upcoming God of War: Ragnarok installment, the sequel to the 2018 blockbuster.

Meanwhile, the majority of the players, right now, are waiting for massive reveals of the year.

Some of the potential blockbuster heavyweights coming soon are Resident Evil Village, Far Cry 6, and Halo Infinite. The next installment in the Halo series is set to release in the coming months. It’s developed by 343 Industries and will be published by Xbox Game Studios.

Horizon Forbidden West, Returnal, Dying Light 2, STALKER 2, a new Call of Duty entry, and Back 4 Blood are also highly anticipated.

But that’s not it!

The line-up extends further with the likes of Deathloop, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, New World, and GhostWire: Tokyo.

No More Heroes 3, Humankind, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Biomutant, Stray, Psychonauts 2, and Cyber Shadow are other crucial launches.

Several recently announced projects coming soon are The Day Before and Glitchpunk. The latter will remind many of the futuristic atmospheres of CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077.

Then there are Etched Memories, which will prove to be an exciting game for the players because it will feature a Cat, named Biscuit as the primary protagonist.
