GOG giving away ‘The Witcher 3’ for free, here’s how to avail

CD Projekt Red continues the celebration as The Witcher 3 turns five this year. The game is being given away for free courtesy of its digital storefront for video games—GOG.

CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 3 franchise has been a complete success, and they are feeling generous with their milestone. Through the video game maker’s digital storefront, GOG, copies of the 2015 cult RPG are given for free.

This is amazing give away is as always for limited time only. Fans of the game are given only a week starting yesterday to claim the freebie.

How to claim The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for free

This giveaway is actually more of a perk for those who already own a copy of the game. Nevertheless, as Eurogamer advised, there’s a way around to nab a copy without owning the game—players will just need to ask a friend to borrow a copy of The Witcher 3.

What GOG and CD Projekt Red will be looking at is evidence that there’s a copy of the game in the library.

So, how does it work? Players will need two things: one, as already mentioned, is a copy of the The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and GOG’s GALAXY 2.0 application.

All there is to do is link the GOG platform to wherever game library The Witcher 3 is saved or installed on. The platforms that are eligible for this giveaway are PlayStation, Xbox, and PC—unfortunately, there will be no Nintendo Switch port giveaway.

The importance of GALAXY 20.0

It is important to remember that the GOG GALAXY 2.0 is an essential requirement. There are no other ways to claim the game, aside from installing the application.

Which franchise will the players receive?

The players will receive a title equivalent to what they already own. Therefore, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt owners will receive another copy of the same title, while The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt GOTY Edition will also receive the GOTY Edition.

Those that already own the game on the GOG platform can still take advantage of this grandiose giveaway as they will be receiving a “giftable code of the game.”
