The Google Pixel 4a 5G offers the best features of Google Pixel 5, but at a more affordable price, which is more realistic for many.
Last night, Google attempted to break away from the mold of the usual keynote speeches. Instead of doing flashy animations and transitions, Google opted for a more relaxed launch night. It even fully equipped its standby website with relaxing music that can accompany the audience while waiting.
The event was short but meaty. It featured all the devices and new programs that were rumored in the past months.
Google Pixel 4a 5G is essentially the Google Pixel 5, but cheaper
Google announced last night the second version of the Google Pixel 4a. This time, as the name suggests, the Pixel 4a will be equipped with 5G bands. Also, for just a slight bump of US$150, customers can get premium flagship features at a relatively lower price.
The Google Pixel 4a 5G is equipped with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of non-expandable internal memory. Compared to the Pixel 4a, the 5G variant uses the same Snapdragon 765G as the Pixel 5.

The Pixel 4a 5G has a slightly bigger 6.2-inch display than the Pixel 5. However, both phones have an identical camera system of an 8-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 12-megapixel sensor, and a 16-megapixel ultra-wide lens at the back.
Unlike Pixel 5, the Pixel 4a 5G is not water-resistant and does not support wireless charging. On the flip side, for those that still used wired earphones, they would most likely prefer the 5G variant of the Pixel 4a. After all, it still has a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is pretty rare these days.
Superb software technology
Google also announced today some unique features on the phones. First, the latest Google Pixel phones will be equipped with Extreme Battery Saver. The feature allows for the device to run up to 48 hours on a single full charge by only running the essential apps the user wants to keep on.
Google also released the latest Hold For Me feature. It’s a nifty little tool for those that don’t like being put on hold for extended periods. Instead of putting the phone on loudspeaker while waiting, Google Assistant can take over the holding period. As soon as the other party picks up, the user gets notified about the call.
The new phones are also equipped with the latest Titan M chips that will keep passwords and securities of the phones safe. Google promises up to 3 OS updates and the latest security updates on the Pixel 5 and the Pixel 4a 5G.
