Google Pixel 4a gets spotted on FCC, launching now imminent

The Pixel 4a could be finally released anytime soon, a recent listing on this key certification suggests.

Consumers may no longer have to wait that long for the Google Pixel 4a as it purportedly passed through FCC certification earlier this week.

The upcoming mid-range Pixel refresh from Google was spotted on FCC by XDA’s Mishaal Rahman. Rahman claimed the phone to be the Pixel 4a.

Bearing the model number G025, the Pixel 4a is undoubtedly in the vein of the Pixel 3 series. The new Google Pixel 4 previously visited the site with the model number G020. Additionally, the new device carries the model numbers G025J, G025M, and G025N.

Three versions

As you may have gleaned, the Google Pixel 4a is set to arrive in three versions. Accordingly, the first edition will be exclusive in the U.S. market, while the other two are slated to be released in other parts of the world, which are also en route to support additional cellular frequencies.

The FCC filing of the Pixel 4a also revealed two crucial details. First, the smartphone will be opting for an e-label to ensure the phone’s design clean and minimal.

No Soli radar sensor

Secondly, the phone won’t also be arriving with the Soli radar sensor array, one that is found on the more premium Pixel 4 series. This is evidenced by the lack of any millimeter-wave frequencies that are required for the Soli radar to function.

Pixel 4a: Rumored features and specifications

The upcoming mid-ranger from Google is tipped to launch with a 5.81-inch AMOLED screen with Full-HD+ resolution. The phone is also pegged to feature a punch-hole on its display, located at the upper-right section of the screen.

Under the hood, the phone is also speculated to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 730G chipset, with 6GB RAM and two storage options – 64GB and 128GB. The phone’s battery listing is tipped to be of 3,080mAh capacity, with support for 18W fast wired charging via a USB Type-C port.

On its rear, the Pixel 4a could sport a single 12.2MP primary camera, which is set to be accompanied by a mounted fingerprint reader.

The phone is also likely to ship with the vanilla Android 10, as opposed to debuting with Android 11, which hasn’t been unveiled yet. Nevertheless, the phone should be beta supported right off the bat.

The Google Pixel 4a is rumored to cost USD 299 for its base 6GB/64GB variant, while its top-tier edition could debut with a USD 349 price tag.
