The Pixel 4a also carries an attractive price of USD 349, which is USD 50 cheaper than the new iPhone SE’s starting price tag.
The Google Pixel 4a is now official. Google’s newest Pixel iteration is also its latest offering in its now-expanding, budget-friendly “A” series, which debuted when the Pixel 3a was released.
5.81-inch OLED with Always-On Display
The Pixel 4a features a compact 5.81-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,340 pixels. It also sports a display cutout placed at the upper left section of the screen, housing an 8MP selfie snapper. This is the first phone from the Pixel series to feature a punch-hole.
Additionally, the Pixel 4a’s display is HDR-compliant and comes with Always-On display. It also has Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
On its rear, the phone is noted for its clean, matte-finished panel. It houses a camera module that is home to a single 12.2MP 1.2.55” sensor with an enormous 1.4-micrometer pixels and fast f/1.7 optics; the latter supports all the vanilla Pixel 4a features such as Night Sight, Portrait Model, and Top Shot. The setup also packs optical image stabilization (OIS).
Pixel 4a: Snapdragon 730G with 3,140mAh battery
Powering the Google Pixel 4a is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 730G. It is then paired with 6GB of RAM and a non-expandable 128GB of internal storage. The variant doesn’t come with any versions that boast extra storage nor a microSD card slot to equip the device.
Meanwhile, the latest mid-range smartphone from Google works on a 3,140mAh battery, with 18W fast wired charging support.
The Pixel 4a didn’t debut with the rumored, next-generation Android OS but instead launched with the latest Android 10.
The phone is also home to Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, 3.5mm headphone jack, and USB Type-C. There is also a fingerprint reader mounted on its back panel.
Pricing and availability
The Pixel 4a, which only retails in Just Black color variant, carries a price tag of USD 349. This is about one of the cheapest offerings the Pixel lineup has ever offered.
Apart from the US, the handset is also slated to arrive in the UK, Australia, Canada, France, India, Ireland, Japan, Singapore, and Taiwan.
Alongside the smartphone, Google has also announced the phone’s 5G variant, plus the Pixel 5. The aforementioned 5G editions, however, are all set to become available this fall.
