Google apparently has decided to move the announcement of the Google Pixel 4a to July 13. The phone will also reportedly not be 5G capable.
The name of the game for smartphone companies doesn’t lie in the flagship category anymore. The new battle is set to begin within the mid range smartphone area. Apple, Samsung, OnePlus, and other Chinese smartphone companies all have their own contender for the market.
This year they may have to wait for another month or two before they finally get to see a powerful opponent hit the store shelves. The much anticipated release of the Google Pixel 4a has reportedly been delayed by two months.
Two more months to wait for the Pixel 4a
Contrary to earlier rumors, Google has apparently decided to delay the release of the Pixel 4a by two months. The insider info was shared by Jon Prosser, a well-known tipster on consumer tech.

Was originally May, then got pushed to June, now pushed again.
“Just Black” & “Barely Blue”
Current plan for announcement:
July 13BTW – just 4G.
(Sorry to kill the 5G rumors)Seems like they’re ready to ship. The decision is mostly based on market analysis.

According to Prosser, the Pixel 4a will not be released next month probably due to the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic in the supply chain.
No 5G and no Pixel 4a XL
Prosser added that the Pixel 4a will not be shipping with a Pixel 4a XL variant. This move may have some weight to it as the Pixel 3a XL didn’t actually do well in its sales last year. The strategy could be a direct response to Apple’s iPhone SE, where the budget Apple phone also doesn’t have a bigger variant.
Google’s strategy could reportedly be to funnel the attention and sales to the Pixel 4a to command a better foothold in the mid-tier phone market. Just like the iPhone SE, the Pixel 4a will also reportedly not have 5G capabilities. Not having a 5G capable chip means that the price point of the Pixel 4a will hover even lower than Apple’s iPhone SE. The estimated retail price of the Pixel 4a will just be AU$529.

Should all these strategies align, Google will have a strong outing when they release the Pixel 4a considering the phone’s reported specs.
Pixel 4a specs
The main draw for the Pixel 4a phone will still be its superior camera system. Despite lacking the actual hardware of multiple lenses, Google makes up for it with state-of-the-art image processing.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 730 chip will be the phone’s main processor with at least 64GB as the base model’s internal memory. The screen will be a Full HD+ resolution of 2,340 x 1,080. It will also have dual sim slots and possibly an e-sim option for its users.
