The successor of Google’s best-selling Pixel 3a, the Pixel 4a, is tipped to rival Apple’s newest iPhone SE.
One of the next big smartphones that are about to be released in the Android world is Google Pixel 4a, the successor of the hugely popular Pixel 3a. Where the competition is leaning towards the pocket-friendly smartphone iterations, the Pixel 4a stands a good chance at dominating the race.
Here are some of the reasons based on the phone’s recent speculations.
Flagship-level camera offerings
Among the many attributes that have been lauded on the 2020 iPhone SE is its rear camera prowess. Like the new iPhone SE, the Google Pixel 4a is also slated to feature a single rear camera, with a performance that is said to be at par with Google’s flagship Pixel 4 and Pixel 4XL.
The Google Pixel 4a is likewise rumored to offer a night mode for its camera, a distinct advantage over its competitors.
A larger OLED
The Google Pixel 4a is also tipped to launch with an OLED display, akin to its predecessor’s screen offering. Nevertheless, it is pegged for a larger 5.8-inch display, which is up from the previous 5.6 inches. In contrast, Apple’s new iPhone SE features a smaller 4.7-inch screen.
Additionally, the Google Pixel 4a is expected to sport a 3.5mm headphone jack. This is quite a rarity in its class nowadays.
Premium mid-range Qualcomm chipset
The Google Pixel 4a is also set to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 730 processor. The phone could also get coupled with 64GB/128GB of internal storage options. Note that the 128GB alternative isn’t present with the Google Pixel 3a.
While the Snapdragon 730 is a mid-tier processor that isn’t nearly as efficient as the A13 Bionic chip, the accompanying CPU should still deliver enough power to thrive throughout a day for most users. And we have the chip’s efficiency gains to thank for that.
Google is also tipped to equipped the Pixel 4a with a 3,080mAh battery, with support for 18W fast wired charging. Unlike the 2020 iPhone SE, the Android phone may not arrive with a wireless charging feature.
Competitive pricing
Recently, there have been numerous rumors which point to Google Pixel 4a’s potential pricing. Accordingly, the mid-range phone could launch with a starting price tag of USD 400, which is also reminiscent of the new iPhone SE’s attractive pricing. This is also the same price point in which the previous-generation Pixel A series of smartphones was noted for.
The Google Pixel 4a is rumored to be announced in mid-May 2020
