The Pixel 5, Google’s 2020 flagship phone, was launched earlier this month alongside the Google Pixel 4a 5G. The device will be available across nine countries, including Australia, Japan, the UK, and the US from Oct. 15.
Today, a new UK-based YouTuber has posted a Pixel 5 hands-on video. It shows off the phone’s design together with its cameras and a few benchmarking tests.
YouTuber totallydubbedHD posted two videos on his channel. The first video shows the first look feature of the Pixel 5. It reveals that the phone comes with the following: USB Type-C to Type-C cable, a Type-C to Type-A adapter, and a Type-C adapter in the box.
The dual-camera setup is also seen in the video, and it is inside a square-shaped module on the back. Despite the module projecting a few details, totallydubbedHD said it doesn’t make the Pixel 5 wobbly when placed on the surface.
The selfie camera can be seen inside a hole-punch cutout in the top left corner of the screen. As noticed by the phone in the video, there are no spotted front speakers.
As reported by Phone Arena, a hardware diagram for the Pixel 5 was earlier spotted on Reddit. It shows that Google decided to feature an under-display speaker on the phone.
It makes sense since both the renders of the phone and the latest hands-on video show the same feature. Google’s Pixel 5 indeed carries a speaker placed below the bottom of the OLED display.
On the other hand, the second video is a hands-on video where the YouTuber answers some of the questions addressed to him by his followers. The YouTuber also shows off the various features of the phone while answering questions. The video shows off details of the following: phone’s wireless charging, display brightness, battery life, camera app, video stabilization, and more.
Google has shared hardware diagrams of the two devices. According to the company, the speaker of the Pixel 4a 5G sits on the top bezel, which is hardly breaking news.
In contrast, the top speaker of Google’s Pixel 5 is embedded within the display, below the proximity and ambient light sensor.
However, the report notes that the under-display sensors of Google’s Pixel 5 don’t seem to be true. This is because the protective cases from Google Store don’t match the screen of the phone from the render. Unlike the diagram with a display in the center, the cases are slightly left of center.
