The beloved cast of HBO’s Game of Thrones is in for a virtual reunion as they play Dungeons and Dragons 5e live on Twitch.
Game of Thrones‘ last episode aired last year—May 2019. Fans were left reeling about the ending of George RR Martin’s famed book series TV adaptation. Nevertheless, the cast is about to return on-screen—not to recreate the finale, but to play Dungeons and Dragons 5e instead.
The Game of Thrones franchise was quite the craze after launching its first episode in 2011. From a book series to loved HBO series, GoT was so famous that several games of its nature started to emerge, such as Game of Thrones Winter is Coming, which was released in November 2019 on Steam.
D&D Live 2020: Roll w/ Advantage with GoT cast
Entertainment Weekly exclusively revealed the virtual get-together that’ll happen on Friday. Accordingly, a few of the actors and actresses from the GoT series are teaming up to play Dungeons and Dragons 5e (D&D 5th edition) for a good cause.
The live stream of the D&D game with Hollywood stars is said to raise money for Red Nose Day—a charity campaign to end child poverty. According to the event’s official website, the goal of this star-studded charity is:
We’re bringing D&D’s brightest stars to this virtual table to preview the latest D&D storyline with live gaming sessions, all while raising money for Red Nose Day to help children affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.
D&D Live 2020: Roll w/ Advantage officially starts on June 18, but the video chat stream will not feature the GoT stars until Saturday, June 20, at 12 p.m. PT/3 p.m. E.T on Twitch.
According to the showbiz publication, those that have confirmed their appearance are as follows:
- Daniel Portman (Podrick)
- Gemma Whelan (Yara Greyjoy)
- Iwan Rheon (Ramsay Bolton)
- Natalia Tena (Osha)
- Kristian Nairn (Hodor)

Accordingly, Kate Welsh is the designated Dungeon Master for the GoT D&D session. Welsh is said to be the game designer of the “D&D at Wizards of the Coast.”
For this session’s storyline, the cast will follow the journey of the heroes who “meet an unusual creature that sets them on a strange task. Seems simple enough — but in a realm legendary for its danger, all is not what it seems.”
Fans are in for quite the laughter as Welsh tells EW that she tends to run “ridiculous and goofy” D&D games. Ramsay Bolton actor Iwan Rheon, for one, did admit that he will not be using his on-screen character’s antics.
