After Netflix dropped Great Pretender Season 2, fans are now wondering if there will be Great Pretender Season 3.
Edamura Makoto’s story is now dubbed as one of Netflix’s most stand-out series. With that, will it be a sure hint that Great Pretender Season 3 will come to fruition?
The possibility of a renewal
The anime has yet to receive a renewal either from Wit Studio or Netflix, as it may be too early to tell the show’s future.
However, there is a strong belief a third season will surely come. According to HITC, the show appears popular enough to get a renewal.
Although Netflix is yet to reveal its official viewership statistics, it has a high score of 8/10 on IMDb, 8.4/10 on MyAnimeList, and 85% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The second season’s finale also closed with an open ending, leaving room for the story’s continuation.
In the final episode, Laurent called Makoto from the president’s inauguration to ask if he was already bored.
Although this seems to be not a major cliffhanger, it looks like it is the start of more fun adventures that Great Pretender Season 3 may pick up from.
Possible Season 3 plotline
If there will be a new season, The Cinemaholic noted fans could expect to see Laurent trying to persuade Edamame in his “con jobs.”
He may also learn Dorothy is still alive, so he may do everything to find her. As the series has been teasing a possible romance between Abby and Edamame, this may finally happen in Great Pretender Season 3.
Cynthia may also start help raising Kawin after being saved from the traffickers.
What is “Great Pretender” all about?
Great Pretender is a Japanese crime comedy anime series produced by Wit Studio. It is about a group of international con artists, led by the brilliant and enigmatic Laurent Thierry.
Just like Robin Hood, Laurent victimizes the worst people in the world and gives back to the unfortunate ones.
The show’s first season featured two cours. The first cour had 14 episodes, while the second cour only had nine episodes.
However, Netflix dropped the second cour as a new season. The episodes are grouped into four cases.
Episodes 1 to 5 are Case 1, Episodes 6 to 9 are Case 2, and Episodes 10 to 14 are Case 3. On the other hand, Case 4 featured the second cour’s nine episodes, which served as Season 2 and titled Case 4: Wizard of Far East.
As it is now airing on Netflix, will Great Pretender Season 3 come out next?
