Johnny Depp might star in his own TV show as Grindelwald as plans are reportedly underway for a spinoff to Fantastic Beasts.
Warner Bros is allegedly looking to expand the Wizarding World for its streaming platform, HBO Max, by 2022. The still-untitled Grindelwald show with Johnny Depp is just one of the many programs in development.
Knight Edge Media founder Caleb Williams hinted on Twitter that the Fantastic Beasts villain could potentially get his own show. It comes as rumors also surfaced Jude Law might reprise his role for a Dumbledore-centric Harry Potter spinoff series.

But fans have a lot of questions surrounding this Grindelwald rumor. Specifically, can Depp commit to a TV series? The last time the actor led a show was on 21 Jump Street, which ran for five seasons from 1987 to 1991.
Marvel meeting for potential “multiple” roles
Reports also surfaced that Johnny Depp has had meetings with Marvel bosses for “multiple” roles in different movie projects.
There are talks that he’s interested in playing Bounty Hunter for the planned Ghost Rider reboot. The actor is also in discussions for a potential role in the Captain Marvel sequel with Brie Larson. If this deal works out, he’ll play the role of the antagonist Korvac.
Needless to say, the actor is planning out his next project as his other big franchise movies are winding down. His conversations with Marvel might be far from not over. However, Depp might have to hold off any more negotiations until he’s finished filming the third installment of Fantastic Beasts. Co-star Eddie Redmayne confirmed that some of them are back on the set and following the safety protocols under the new normal.
Fantastic Beasts 3 originally started filming in mid-March but had to stop as the pandemic crisis hit days later. Warner Bros has not changed the film’s release date despite the delays. The third installment is still scheduled for a November 2021 theater date.
At the San Sebastian International Film Festival
But before heading back to the set, Depp flew to Spain for the San Sebastian International Film Festival. The actor arrived over the weekend to attend the premiere of the movie Crock of Gold: A Few Rounds. He is expected to be at the London set of Fantastic Beasts 3 after the festival.
In August, Johnny Depp asked the court to delay his defamation trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard since he will be working on the movie from October to February. The judge moved the trial to May 2021, but not for Depp’s request but due to COVID-19.
