Fans excited for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy game will get a surprise when it eventually lands in stores later this year.
Just recently, the Senior Creative Director of Guardians of the Galaxy revealed key information about it. According to him, the game will change several character origins along with their designs.
‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ details so far
However, it’s not the first time the space-based team is getting a gaming adaptation. In 2017, Telltale Games also released a game on these famous characters.
Coming onto the Square Enix version then its Senior Creative Director recently shared some interesting details.
In the latest post, Jean-Francois Dugas informed the players about what changes Guardians of the Galaxy offer. He mentioned that they had full liberty in doing the project.
Simply put, it means they made many modifications regarding characters’ origins and their designs.
Lucas said that his team took inspiration from the MCU iteration of the Guardians and the comic books.
The developers preferred a space pirate design regarding Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord. It’s because the character loves the period of the 1980s a lot. The title “Star-Lord” itself comes from a popular rock band of the same name.
Drax is the same, just like his MCU counterpart. But the game will see him having different body scarifications, marking key events from his life.
In terms of what served as an inspiration for Gamora, the developers took notes directly from the comics. She will sport black and white, full-tactical body armor.
Rocket and Groot’s appearances reflect their bond with each other. Guardians of the Galaxy will see Groot wearing a harness made by Rocket to help him climb and combat.
Lucas also shared the origin that they decided to have for the game’s in-universe history. And thus, the story will show that a Galactic War ravaged the galaxy. Chitauri was behind this destruction, aided by Thanos.
Chitauri’s invasion takes place 12 years before the beginning of the main story in the game.
