Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton have been dating for a couple of years, and her sons are already close to her boyfriend, but one of them hates his songs.
Gwen Stefani has three sons with her ex-husband Gavin Rossdale – Kingston, 14, Zuma, 11, and Apollo, 6. However, her eldest son isn’t fond of her boyfriend, Blake Shelton’s music.
Gwen Stefani and Gavin’s eldest son hates Blake’s music
On Tuesday, Gwen Stefani’s son Kingston hopped on Instagram Live to answer some questions from his followers. One mentioned country music, Blake Shelton’s genre.
“Do you listen to country other than Blake?” one fan asked as quoted by Hollywood Life.
“I don’t listen to any country. I hate country,” Kingston said bluntly.
He was never a fan of the genre. Kingston confessed that he had never even heard of country legend Johnny Cash.
Cash is an American singer-songwriter, and his music includes country, rock and roll, rockabilly, blues, folk, and gospel songs.
When a friend played a snippet of his song, Kingston made a face and reiterated his dislike for country music.
“Country is disgusting,” he said.
Kingston is difficult to please
It turned out that Gwen Stefani’s son is a very critical person. His dislike for country music has nothing to do with his mom’s boyfriend, Blake Shelton.
Even Kingston’s dad, Gavin Rossdale, considered him his toughest critic, and Rossdale was thankful that Kingston is fond of his music.
“Thank God’ The Kingdom’ is good!” Rossdale said while laughing during an interview, relieved that his son, Kingston, liked his album.
“Because he’s a music critic. He’s a restaurant critic. He is a life critic. He’s got great aesthetics. So I’m thrilled that the record is being well-received [by him].”
Kingston and Rossdale’s relationship
Gwen Stefani’s ex-husband, Gavin Rossdale, is very close to their eldest son, Kingston. The Bush singer considered Kingston, his sidekick.
“It’s so beautiful to experience his awakening as a young adult and just this sort of abstract thinking, and things that he wants to do with his life, and music he loves and bands he loves and lyrics we discuss,” he said about Kingston.
“And he’s singing and writing and playing. It’s just a really fun time to be around him. He’s been obviously a child for 13 years, so for 13 years he was a certain way. Now 14 is this sort of ‘new, improved version’ of me, as I say.”
Gwen and Gavin’s big dilemma while parenting
Gwen Stefani and her three sons spent the lockdown with Blake Shelton in Oklahoma. Gavin Rossdale was alone at home and revealed that the pandemic made divorce parents who were co-parenting extra challenging.
“I know who’s around me — no one is,” Rossdale said.
“And I know who’s bringing me the coronavirus — no one is. But you send your kids out to someone else, and they come back to you and now you’re prone to whoever they’re with. It’s a tricky one for all divorced parents,” he added.
