Gwen Stefani, allegedly, had her heart set on returning to The Voice, but the producers refused to work with her again.
According to In Touch Weekly, Gwen Stefani was shocked when she found out that Ariana Grande replaced her. After all, she simply took a break for a short while and hoped to return to the reality TV show with Blake Shelton.
Gwen Stefani worried that fans would love Ariana Grande more
An insider alleged that Stefani is worried that she may never be able to return to The Voice now that Grande will be one of the judges.
After all, the singer is very popular among her fans.
Blake Shelton feels awkward on ‘The Voice’ set
According to the source, things are also awkward between Shelton and the producers of the reality TV show because he will soon before Stefani’s husband.
“It’s a little awkward with Blake Shelton on the show right now because the producers obviously don’t want to get him annoyed, but they felt at this time Ariana was the best choice to follow Nick. And Blake keeps telling Gwen she’ll be back one day. She just has to be patient,” the source said.
Gwen Stefani could still return to ‘The Voice’
However, it’s unlikely for Stefani to be upset with the producers’ decision to tap Grande to be one of their coaches. After all, she was the one that decided to leave The Voice due to her other commitments.
It is also unlikely for The Voice to close their doors on the singer. After all, some of their coaches have returned to the show again years after they left.
According to Good Housekeeping, there’s still hope for Stefani to return to The Voice in the future. After all, the same thing happened with Nick Jonas.
The singer left the show before returning last season to replace Stefani.
And as for Stefani’s schedule, it was quite hectic throughout the past couple of months. She released her first solo single, “Let Me Reintroduce Myself,” and she also dropped a duet with Shelton.
“Nobody But You” made it to the top of the country music charts. And Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton were also nominated at the ACM because of it.
