Hailee Steinfeld playing as Kate Bishop in the Hawkeye TV series has been a long-time rumor. Until now, there’s still no word if she is really going to portray the role.
According to reports, it has been eight months already since Hailee Steinfeld was rumored to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the upcoming Disney Plus series.
She was, reportedly, offered the lead role as Kate Bishop, a member of the Young Avengers in the comics. However, Steinfeld has not been as enthusiastic as the fans about it.
Dodging the question
Recent reports reveal that the 23-year old Oscar nominee sat down on a virtual interview with Sirius XM.
One of the questions asked was about her involvement in the superhero series. She has been silent about the rumors for so long that fans would think that perhaps questioning her directly will give some light to the questions.
That wasn’t the case though as the Bumblebee actress only dodged the question. She did not directly address the rumors of her playing the role. Instead, she talked about what she has been busy with.
“You know, right now, I will tell you that music is where my head is at,” Steinfeld responded. “That’s what I’m focused on…that is what is occupying my brain at the moment.”
Steinfeld started out as an actress with True Grit as her breakthrough film. She even got nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Mattie Ross in the drama film.
She had more movies after that but it was in Pitch Perfect 2 that she made a breakthrough in music for her performance of “Flashlight.”
Is she playing the role?
Steinfeld’s answer ended up being more confusing. She neither confirmed nor denied her involvement with the series. Sources suggest that her deal with Apple for the TV show Dickinson may be the hindrance.
Fans will just have to continue to stay tuned to know if the singer-actress will play a role alongside Jeremy Renner who is going to reprise his role as Hawkeye or Clint Barton.

It’s going to be a series about Clint Barton and his life after the events from Avengers: Endgame. It’s also said that the series will show Hawkeye training Kate Bishop who took over the former’s mantle in the comics.
There is still no exact release date yet but it’s said to come around late 2021. However, due to the COVID-19 crisis, production may be delayed and the release date can be pushed back further.
The casting of the other characters continues to be empty too. But should Hailee Steinfeld play the Kate Bishop role, then the rumors will finally be confirmed.
