The launch’s reveal is excellent news for all those who are patiently waiting for the TV series. Because it’s been almost eight years in the making, it was only last year when the filming began eventually in Budapest.
However, the Halo series again faced the obstacle of the pandemic as COVID-19 cases surged in 2020. As a result of that, it went through a lot of delays.
Currently, the production is underway, with 60 percent of it already being in a completion stage, which is a good thing for the makers who have worked on it for so long.
Speaking of its history, Steven Spielberg first announced a live-action adaptation of the Halo gaming franchise back in 2013. Five years later, it was greenlit as Showtime also got involved.
In 2019, Showtime revealed that American Gods‘ actor Pablo Schrieber would portray the iconic role of Master Chief. While Natascha McElhone will be Dr. Halsey. She’s the genius creator of Spartan super soldiers.
When it comes to its plot, the TV show will follow the story of the early 2001 games in its series. Many focus on a futuristic vision, the environment, characters, and the overall in-depth story.
Apart from Schrieber as Master Chief Spartan John-117, the project also stars Jen Taylor as Cortana. She is the most advanced AI in human history in the gaming franchise.
Other cast members are Bokeem Woodbine, Shabana Azmi, Natasha Culzac, Olive Gray, Yerin Ha, Bentley Kalu, Kate Kennedy, Charlie Murphy, and Danny Sapani.
Major games turning into live-action
The continuous period of significant live-action adaptations of famous games into movies or TV series is quite miraculous to witness. It wasn’t even possible to imagine it around five-six years ago. But now the tables have turned, for good.
And the proof of that is the upcoming The Last of Us HBO TV show, a Borderlands movie, Resident Evil reboot film. Another future title is the Tomb Raider sequel to 2018’s rebooted movie.
This year itself will see the debut of a live-action Mortal Kombat film.
All in all, it’s just so great for all die-hard gaming fanatics who love the console characters deeply.
Coming back to the Halo TV show, an exact release date is yet to be confirmed from the makers in the coming months.
