The Helio G35 and G25 are built on the same architecture, with the latter packing lower clock speeds.
MediaTek has silently announced the Helio G35 and G25 chipsets, the company’s official take on budget-friendly, gaming-oriented chipsets. Aimed specifically for gaming smartphones that cost less than USD 100, the newest SoCs also feature top-of-the-line offerings.
Helio G35 specifications
The Helio G35 SoC is built on a 12nm chip, equipped with an octa-core processor. It comprises of Arm Cortex-A53 CPU with peak speeds of 2.3GHz. Meanwhile, its GPU is an IMG PowerVR GE8320, which operates up to 680MHz. It also supports high-resolution FullHD+ (20:9) displays.
And as the chipset uses a power-efficient 12nm FinFET production process, users can only expect top-notch power efficiency, even when the accompanying phones are subjected to long-gaming sessions.
The Helio G35 chip can also support up to 25MP cameras at 30fps and is capable of enabling dual-camera photography. On the other hand, the newest entry can also adopt noted AI-camera enhancements such as AI beautification and Smart Photo Album.
Another highlight of the Helio G35 is its dual 4G SIM support.
The newly-launched Redmi 9C and Realme C11 are the first smartphones to be powered by the said chipset.
Helio G25 specifications
The Helio G25 has the same node with the G35. However, it comes with lower clock speeds. The CPU is clocked at 2.0GHz, while its GPU comes with up to 650 MHz. Perhaps the only glaring difference between the chipsets is the G25’s support of displays at 720p+. Note that the G25 supports 1080p+ screens.
The same can be said with the camera capabilities of the Helio G25. They are also lowered to 21MP cameras or a dual-camera setup that comprises of 13MP + 8MP sensors. The chip can also record 1080p videos at 30 fps, with the aid of the H.264 codec.
The Helio G25 chip can also do VoLTE and ViLTE on two 4G connections. Alongside the G35, its sibling’s HyperEngine feature allows the smartphones to switch between Wi-Fi and LTE in just 13 milliseconds. This feature should maintain a fast and reliable connection down the line.
At the time of this writing, only the Redmi 9A has been equipped with the Helio G25.
The Helio G35-powered Realme C11 and Redmi 9C, plus the Helio G25-fueled Redmi 9A, are all slated to go on sale in July 2020.
