Superman actor Henry Cavill in line to play James bond after Daniel Craig.
Daniel Craig had announced his retirement from the Bond franchise long before the film No Time To Die started shooting. Since then, speculation has raised on who will take up the role next, including Henry Cavill.
When the retirement news of Craig hit the news, reports stated that the producers are looking to break the pattern of English/British actors playing the role and now opt for actors with a diverse background. Some even stated that actresses were being considered to don the role.
Eventually, newsletters shifted all the attention towards actors Michael Fassbender, Richard Madden, James Norton, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Ebla, and Tom Hardy.
Man of Steel
During a recent interview with GQ magazine, the Sherlock Holmes actor said:
“If Barbara [producer Barbara Broccoli] and Mike [co-producer Michael G.wilson] were interested in that, I would absolutely jump at the opportunity.”
From July to August, credible sources reported that Tom Hardy is in the talks to take over the role. But official statement regarding the matter is not known.
When Pierce Bosnian officially gave up the role after Die Another Day, Henry Cavill and Daniel Craig were among the finalists chosen to act on the reprisal.
The scene involved him walking out of a bathroom wrapped in a towel, acting impressively. After their trial director, Martin Campbell stated that Craig was a bit “chubby” for the role. The matter led Craig to bag the title and went on to feature in five films under the title.
Superman to a villain, then to a detective
Over the years, Cavill admitted that whatever Martin said about him was real and has helped him get better. He went on to star and established himself in big action films like the Man of Steel, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League, and Mission: Impossible Fallout.
Furthermore, there also reports that surfaced online came out that the actor signed a three-picture deal to reprise his role as Superman.
Apart from playing superhero and villains, Cavill is known for his performance in The Man from UNCLE and his latest release Enola Homes. If he lands the role successfully, he’ll be the ninth actor in line to play the British frictional secret service agent.
Craig’s first role as 007 started from Casino Royale in 2006. His latest addition, No Time to Die, is set to be released this coming November. The movie also stars Rami Malek as Safin and Lashana Lynch as Nomi.
