Here comes ‘Glitchpunk’, and it’s not a part of ‘Cyberpunk 2077’

It seems like new video game titles are taking some inspiration from Cyberpunk 2077. The latest announcement trailer for Glitchpunk proves that.

According to PC Gamer, developer Dark Lord just revealed an announcement for its game Glitchpunk. No, it’s not connected to Cyberpunk 2077 in any way, except the “punk” in the end. But yes, it is futuristic, just like the CD Projekt Red title released last year in December. Well, interestingly, Dark Lord’s new project looks more like a neon version of an old Grand Theft Auto game!

Glitchpunk: Everything you need to know

Speaking about the just-revealed new game, the Glitchpunk announcement trailer tells that it will be a full-on action title. Daedalic Entertainment is its publisher. Although, just like Cyberpunk 2077, it’s also set in the future. The story is about an android bounty hunter who’s having a serious glitch. It causes it to rebel against its programming as it begins a journey against giant evil corporations and oppressive governments.

In Glitchpunk, you will be able to steal cars, throw hands, and blow things up across various cities. They are filled with violent police, gangs, and horrible drivers. However, it’s not just about that only. The game “also tells a story of transhumanism, xenophobia, and religion,” said the developer Dark Lord.

“You can influence the world around you, make new friends, face off against more enemies than you can count—and you might even find love.”

Speaking in other words, it can be called a kind-of-open-world title as you will roam around a big map. Moreover, you can also try new vehicles like trucks, buses, motorcycles, tanks, and even trains! If anyone remembers the famous Pip-Boy radio option from Fallout games, this one also has a similar feature. Glitchpunk’s in-game radio will provide a wide range of music from international artists, “together with news and absurd commercials.”

The announcement trailer for Glitchpunk also revealed that it would launch to Steam Early Access in the second quarter of 2021.

Video games coming in 2021

The year 2020 was full of huge titles and launches, and 2021 will be nothing different from that. It’s going to be even bigger with the likes of Resident Evil Village, Horizon Forbidden West, God of War: Ragnarok, and Psychonauts 2. While Hitman 3 and The Medium are already out for consoles, many other anticipated games are on their way.

The long list includes upcoming titles like Halo Infinite, Returnal, Deathloop, Dying Light 2, STALKER 2, Far Cry 6, Cyber Shadow, Gotham Knights, and Glitchpunk, of course.

The new year has just begun!
