Demi Lovato, reportedly, called off her engagement and broke up with Max Ehrich after she learned his intentions weren’t real.
News about Demi Lovato and Max Ehrich’s split surprised everyone after six months of dating. The 28-year-old singer-songwriter even got so upset that her now-ex-boyfriend claimed he only learned of the breakup through the news.
Calling off the engagement
According to People, Lovato and Ehrich both made the “tough decision” to cancel the engagement and call it quits.
Hours after the news broke, the former Disney star shared a post on her Instagram Story without her engagement ring.
She even seemed to show a subtle shade at Ehrich by displaying the words, “Dogs over people,” on her T-shirt.
Rumors had it the two were having some issues over the past few weeks that led to their breakup.
“It was very hurtful to Demi when she realized that Max’s intentions weren’t genuine,” a source told the publication. “Breaking off the engagement was not an easy decision.”
Another insider revealed the ex-couple used to be together 24/7.
“They lived in a bubble with zero stress and everything was just fun,” the tipster continued.
However, things started to change when Ehrich got back to work and return to Atlanta for the filming of his new movie, Southern Gospel.
“Max shot up in fame, and it’s been hard,” the source explained. “He got wrapped up in [Hollywood].”

Dropping the new breakup song
Meanwhile, TMZ reported Lovato surprised her team when she released her new breakup song on Twitter. Titled, “Still Have Me,” she had sent her group “into a frenzy” to get her new tune on streaming sites so that her fans could buy it.
Sources with direct knowledge about the issue told the site the hitmaker wrote the song with friends. Although “she kept the hook,” she decided to change the lyrics to reflect her recent split.
“I’m a mess and I’m still broken,” the lyrics go. “I don’t have much, but at least I still have me … and that’s all I need.”
The insiders revealed the Camp Rock star got very frustrated with Ehrich’s antics. Recently, The Young and the Restless alum compared his ex-girlfriend and their breakup to Jeffrey Epstein.
With that, Demi Lovato couldn’t wait to drop her new song. So, her team is now working hard to get it on streaming platforms, like Apple Music and Spotify, to start the sale and count the streaming numbers.
