The new Activision title COD: Vanguard’s trailer reveal was great. But strangely, it didn’t have any logo or branding of Activision itself.
While it was unexpected for many, the move was a “creative choice,” as per Activision. Its omission was done to focus on just the game and not the ongoing Activision Blizzard controversy.
Here’s why the ‘Vanguard’ trailer omitted Activision
According to the publisher itself, the announcement video made the omission due to a creative choice.
For the first time in the franchise’s history, the trailer began with “Call of Duty presents” along with “a Sledgehammer Games production” branding.
Even at the end of the Call of Duty: Vanguard trailer, there was no Activision logo or related reference.
While most of the fans were delighted after witnessing the announcement, other people were quite skeptical. However, it’s obvious to understand why.
But many media outlets noticed this and speculated that it was to distance the game from the controversial lawsuit.
In a statement to Axios Gaming’s Stephen Totilo on Twitter, Activision clarified many doubts.
As per the company, “Call of Duty has continued to expand into an incredible universe of experiences.”
Simply put, this omission reflected that Vanguard is the “next major installment in the franchise.”
This Friday, players will get a taste of the upcoming new entry with an Alpha testing phase. It will run from August 27 through August 29.
The testing will also introduce a brand new mode called Champion Hill by the developer Sledgehammer.
