From the publisher who brought games such as Smite and Paladins, Hi-Rez releases its version of tactical FPS called Rogue Company.
This year, a couple of game studios have tried to go on par with popular FPS titles such as Call of Duty, Counter-Strike, and Rainbow Six: Siege.
In addition, there has also been an audience that catered to battle royale and fantasy shooters such as PUBG, Overwatch, and Fortnite.
With Valorant and Hyper Scape entering the tactical FPS and battle royale playing field, respectively, another game from this category has emerged once again.
This week, developer First Watch Games and publisher Hi-Rez Studios released a launch trailer for Rogue Company, which also featured its new character named Ronin.
Putting tactical, hero and battle royale elements together
Throughout the years, gamers have already been saturated with a lot of competitive shooters.
However, Rogue Company tries to bridge the gap between tactical elements brought about by Rainbow Six: Siege and Counter-Strike.
To add some flair, they also tried to put a hint of a battle royale element through its deployment phase in the game being similar to PUBG and Call of Duty: Warzone.
They also added character abilities to the game, which is already present in games like Overwatch, Valorant, and Paladins, which is Hi-Rez Studios’ free-to-play fantasy shooter.
Is it a hit or miss?
Overall, Rogue Company tries to be unique, but it seems that it’s either trying to be good or bad. As Kotaku would say, “it’s just fine, nothing more.”
However, YouTube content creator Drift0r did an in-depth review of the game comparing it more to Valorant, wherein he also mentioned that the game is catered more to console players rather than PC since the title also supports cross-play.
He also mentioned that the gameplay elements are also a mix of Gears of War and Fortnite.
Although there’s no confirmation of a Steam release just yet, you could get this off the Epic Games Store starting at US$5.99 [AU$8.47] for the Starter Edition.
Twitch Drops are also available for viewers who want to avail of more freebies from Rogue Company. They will only need to connect their Twitch account with Epic Games.

Only time can tell if this title could generate hype from the gamers similar to what Valorant has done.
Or it could flop like what recently happened to Crucible wherein they reverted to closed beta after receiving a lot of bad Steam reviews.
