Long-time fans are likely to get Bayonetta 3 news this year. It seems that the game’s director Hideki Kamiya is ready to talk about the game soon.
Bayonetta 3 is a long-awaited Switch exclusive, and people are waiting. In an interview, Kamiya hints that PlatinumGames will be breaking their long-term silence soon. He notes that “it’s safe to expect” some updates shortly.
Kamiya: “It’s safe to say something something will come out”
Bayonetta has been one of the biggest hack-and-slash action titles of all time. The game is as big as its other rivals like Devil May Cry and God of War.
Even then, PlatinumGames has not updated the game for a while.
The third installment of the franchise was announced in December 2017, more than three years ago, at The Game Awards 2017. Since then, PlatinumGames has stayed mum about the game.
Now, there’s likely a glimmer of hope as Kamiya hints at potential news this year about the game.
“It’s not really our position to say, but… it’s January,” said Kamiya in an interview with VGC. “We’ve got to have something come out, right? I guess it’s safe to expect that something will come out. There’s still a lot of the year left is what I’m saying.
“I understand it’s driving the fans crazy,” he said further when asked if the update is ‘more substantial than another CGI logo.’
“In light of that, my suggestion would be that maybe we should all reset and forget about Bayonetta 3. Then when something finally does happen, it will be a nice surprise, won’t it?”
Fans want more Bayonetta
Fans are clamoring for the new installation of Bayonetta 3 for a reason. Bayonetta 2 came out in 2014 and was a mind-blowing title. It’s action-packed, and people love every second of it.
So far, PlatinumGames offered zero information since 2017. While it’s best for the studio to polish the game as much as possible, the potential of an eight-year gap between titles is problematic.
The interview with VGC offered more insight into what’s happening inside the studio recently.
For starters, the interview discussed Takahisa Taura’s standing, the director of Astral Chain, within the company.
They noted that Astral Chain is now an official Nintendo IP. On the flip side, Nintendo handed them The Wonderful 101 IP.
Kamiya, together with Atsushi Inaba, noted how they are trying to cope with the pandemic too.
Now, it’s only a matter of time before fans hear more about Bayonetta 3 this year.
