Hideo Kojima’s scrapped Silent Hills game may be one of the biggest missed opportunities in gaming history. However, fans hoping for a horror game out of the acclaimed director’s mind should lose hope just yet.
Fans have been on edge about the scrapped Silent Hills project of Hideo Kojima for years now. Many are hoping that somehow, the game will still release with Norman Reedus at the start. Just recently, however, it seems like the game creator is still not giving up on his dreams of creating a terrifying experience.
Acclaimed game creator Hideo Kojima and manga artist collide
Acclaimed horror manga creator Junji Ito, recently, revealed that he was invited to work with Kojima on the game. However, when answering questions about the project, it seems like he was non-committal.
“I do know director Kojima and we have been in conversation that he may have a horror-based game that he may be doing, and so he has invited me to work on that, but there are no details on it yet,” as per a translated interview.
Despite his answers, fans are still hopeful that Kojima will push on with a horror game. Last November, he tweeted that he was watching horror movies to prepare for an upcoming project. Moreover, his previous run-ins and posts with Guillermo Del Toro further suggest that a horror title isn’t too far off.

What is ‘P.T’?
P.T. is short for playable teaser. It was launched digitally on PlayStation 4 consoles, and it was a way for Hideo Kojima to let fans in on his upcoming Silent Hills project. However, Kojima’s fallout with Konami led to the game being scrapped entirely.
P.T. is considered as one of the most terrifying experiences on the PlayStation 4. Despite being a simple teaser, it was able to create a definitive horror experience in a demo.
In it, players will go through a house again and again. Each time they pass by the door, something eerie changes within the atmosphere. It has since been removed from the PlayStation Store, but the lucky fans who didn’t delete the game from their consoles still have access to it to this day.
Hideo Kojima and Junji Ito’s pairing could result in one of the scariest games ever made. If fans are able to convince Kojima enough to make the game happen, then we’ll be able to get the Silent Hills game we’ve always wanted. Hopefully, Kojima and Ito push on with the project.
