Hilaria Baldwin spoke up about her worries about Alec Baldwin after the actor accidentally killed Halyna Hutchins on the Rust set.
As the investigation into what went wrong on Rust’s set continues, Hilaria Baldwin breaks her silence as the death of the cinematographer is haunting her husband.
A source recently told People that Alec could not sleep at night as he kept on thinking about Hutchin’s death.
The actor accidentally killed the crew member when he used a gun they believed to be a cold one.
“Alec is struggling, because he clearly understands that things are even worse for Halyna’s family. He doesn’t want any sympathy. He doesn’t want this to be about him,” the source added.
Alec also wants to help Hutchins’ husband and child as long as he can after the incident. He has been in contact with the cinematographer’s family since the tragedy happened.
Meanwhile, Hilaria plays an important role in Alec’s recovery by being his support since day one. Over the weekend, she even shared a photo of them holding hands alongside the caption, “I love you and I’m here.”
What happened on ‘Rust’ set
The Santa Fe Sheriff Department first reported the incident. They reportedly received a call that an individual was shot at the Bonanza Creek Ranch around 1:50 p.m. The department immediately sent deputies to the area.
At that time, Hutchins was rushed to the University of New Mexico Hospital via helicopter after the bullet went through the middle of her chest before injuring another crew member who was standing behind her. Meanwhile, the second injured member, director Joel Souza, fortunately, survived and has since been discharged.
Initial reports revealed that the movie’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez Reed, was the one who handed the gun directly to Baldwin. However, the crew members have been divided as some of them, reportedly, saw assistant director Dave Halls bring the gun to the actor.
Halls’ attorney, Lisa Torraco, addressed the incident to Fox News’ Martha MacCallum for The Story. She said Halls felt overwhelmed and saddened by the news. She also maintained that Halls had no idea if he handed the gun in question to the actor.
“This idea my client grabbed the gun and handed it to Baldwin absolutely did not happen,” she said. However, she later tried not to talk about it despite the host asking her if Halls indeed “doesn’t know if he handed the gun to Alec Baldwin.”
