Matt Damon, a Hollywood stalwart, will join Crypto.com as a brand endorser as the crypto exchange attempts to increase awareness of its services among mainstream audiences in the United States and overseas.
Crypto.com’s moves are part of a broader global marketing drive, which has seen its user base increase more than tenfold since last year as a result of the explosion of interest in cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin.
The company will pour in more than $100 million in the campaign, which will include advertisements featuring Damon and directed by cinematographer Wally Pfister.
Crypto keeps on ballooning
Today, the total market capitalization of all cryptocurrencies is $2.47 trillion, representing a nearly 6% fall from the previous day.
The overall cryptocurrency market volume over the last 24 hours has increased by almost 68% to $172.04 billion.
Meanwhile, the entire volume in decentralized finance is currently $25.98 billion, accounting for 15.10% of the total 24-hour volume in the cryptocurrency market, latest online data show.
According to Damon, this is the first endorsement he has ever done. “We are hoping this is the start of a long-term relationship,” he said in quotes by Cryptoslate.
Additionally, Ronda Rousey, Carmelo Anthony, and snowboarder Lindsey Jacobellis have joined Crypto.com.
Major endorsers
Despite the support, Damon, who is also an investor in Crypto.com, stated that he is a cautious investor who would normally “ride or die” with the economy.
Crypto.com has established relationships with Formula 1, the Ultimate Fighting Championship, and Italy’s top soccer league. It has also worked with French soccer club Paris Saint-Germain, NBA team the Philadelphia 76ers, NHL team the Montreal Canadiens, and Formula 1 team Aston Martin Cognizant.
This year, cryptocurrency platforms such as Crypto.com, FTX, and Coinbase are investing heavily in marketing and inking relationships with sports organizations and clubs.
Celebrities like NFL quarterback Tom Brady, supermodel Gisele Bundchen, and Amitabh Bachchan are also getting involved, gaining exposure through endorsements.
