Hot Wheels Unleashed is promising to bring more than 60 selections of cars into the racing game. They will include special automobile designs such as Batman’s Batmobile and Snoopy’s Barnstormer.
A new racing title based on the Hot Wheels franchise is currently in the works by Mattel and Milestone. If you were once a kid who loved four-wheelers, then the concept should probably come off as familiar. And, yes, it involves various car models in miniature design—ideally, as a collectible or as a toy for kids.
Long List of Cars
We are already ways off since the invention of the first modern car. From then, there have been a myriad of designs coming from different manufacturers, each for their own purposes. For this reason, Unleashed will feature some of the best prototypes in existence as aimed for the car enthusiasts. Among other models, they include the Audi Sport Quattro, ’71 El Camino, 1956 Ford Truck, and 2018 Ford Mustang GT. But, of course, originals such as the Twin Mill and Boneshaker are going to make appearances as well.
Speaking of automotive from the imaginary realm, the game will also be a host to blueprints from other franchises. More specifically, the Batman Batmobile, Snoopy Barnstormer, TMNT Party Wagon, K.I.T.T., and Back to the Future Time Machine. With most of these franchises having original existence back in the ‘80s, it seems to cater for Millennials looking back in nostalgia.
Exciting Racer
From the outset, Unleashed may feel like your standard racing game affair, with Mario Kart elements thrown into it. Nothing particularly new under the sun. But this is not just your run-off-the-mill racing game that highlights toy cars, according to real-life or fictitious designs. It appears that the developers are adding an RPG element into the game. In particular, the ability to customize cars for improvement. Again, nothing especially groundbreaking, but should keep the game deviated from the average racer.
Through a so-called Rarity System, players will get to tinker with their cars in-game. Particularly, making upgrades using parts from dismantled cars, with the goal of keeping up with the game’s gradually increasing challenges. Adding a special twist into the system are secret ways of making upgrades, as per GamesPress. The word is intentionally vague but is intriguing, nonetheless, to hold special interest.
Hot Wheels Unleashed is set for release on September 30, 2021, for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC. But pre-orders are now ongoing and comes with an asking price of $49.99.
