After months of speculations about the latest Huawei flagship offerings, the brand has finally launched the Mate 40 Series.
Huawei unveiled four of its flagship devices, Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro, Mate 40 Pro+, and the Mate 40 RS.
As is the standard Huawei fashion, the new generation smartphones come with considerable upgrades in almost all departments.
Huawei Mate 40 Series: Design
Apart from the Mate 40 RS, a Porsche-inspired special edition, all the Mate 40 phones follow a similar design language. The Mate 40 is a series of bulky phones with mammoth specifications across the board.
As in any standard flagship device of 2020, the back is made of matte finish glass, available in two colors, Ceramic White and Ceramic Black.
Also, Mate 40 comes with a space ring camera module, which is the newest form of camera modules in the market.
Specifications
As expected, the Mate 40 series is a massive upgrade over the Mate 30 series; for starters, it features one of the best processors among the precious phone of Huawei.
The Mate 40 series comes with the latest Kirin 9000 chipsets with 5nm processing and four Cortex-A77 cores.
Huawei phones have been known for its industry-leading camera performance, and the Mate 40 series is no different.
The significant difference between all the models is the camera performance, with the Mate 40 Pro+ 5G leading amongst all the other phones.
The whopping 50MP primary camera can record videos at 3,840fps, which can practically stop time.
As for the supporting cameras, the Mate 40 Pro has a 20MP wide-angle camera, a 12MP periscope telephoto camera with a 5x zoom, and a ToF sensor.
According to XDA Developers, the pill-shaped notch in the front packs in a 13MP camera and a 3D ToF sensor.
The front-facing sensor is a relatively rare feature for Android phones. It enables features like highly secure face scanning and “eyes-on” display. As per GSM Arena, the display of the phone also has an in-built fingerprint sensor.
Moreover, the Mate 40 series has a 4,400 mAh, which can charge at a speed of 66W with a wire and 50W wirelessly. It can also charge other devices through reverse wireless charging as well.
Pricing
With such bulky features, the Huawei Mate 40 series comes at a reasonable price. It is priced at €899 (1,063 USD), whereas the RS model comes at €2,300 (2,719 USD).
For the fantastic hardware it has, the Huawei Mate 40 series is aptly priced, but the software issues because of the US ban may reflect itself in the sales.
