The Huawei Mate 40 production has reportedly been delayed according to several insiders.
The phone may be launched at any time between October to the early months of 2021. Also, Huawei is already in crisis control mode.
The reality of the U.S. ban against them is already biting them into a state of panic. Since May 2019, Huawei has been the biggest company hit when the U.S. turned its back against the majority of Chinese companies.
Sales worldwide have plummeted to uncharted territories. As a result, they have had to refocus their resources toward their telecom hardware business. However, they continue to keep work on their smartphone business, hoping for a miracle.
Huawei Mate 40 production pushed back
In reality, the global business of Huawei in smartphones has been in the doldrums ever since the U.S. crackdown. Their business outside of China has been at its worst form ever since its high the past few years. As such, the new reality for them may not be as positive as it used to be.
According to several Huawei insiders, the Chinese company had to take a step back to assess their supply chain issues. Accordingly, Huawei had to tell some of its suppliers to halt the production of Huawei Mate 40 components.
The news of the production suspension comes from two suppliers of Huawei. One was quoted saying:
“One of the reasons to pause is that Huawei is reviewing the inventory level of its HiSilicon mobile chips and is busy verifying other mobile platforms by [Taiwanese chip designer] MediaTek and Qualcomm [of the U.S.]. “
Chipset production problems
The main issue haunting Huawei is its chipset supply. The Chinese company has its own chipset design company with HiSilicon. Unfortunately, they don’t manufacture all of the chipset’s components. They rely on TSMC or other suppliers from the U.S. for them to be able to produce their chips.
Ever since the U.S. ban, HiSilicon’s forecasts have been stumped. Many earlier this year have reported that Huawei had to turn to Samsung for help. Just a few days ago, one insider crushed Huawei’s hopes.
The launch may not be delayed
The Huawei Mate 40 line up may still be launched near the end of the year. However, its actual sale in the market may be delayed two to three months after its launch. The excitement for the new phone lineup isn’t too high. Fans aren’t looking forward to using it because it will not have Google support anyway.
