HUAWEI’s high-profile Android tablet is also slated to be announced alongside the HUAWEI nova 7 series.
Weeks after, HUAWEI’s forthcoming MatePad 10.4 became a staple in the rumor mill with its noted listings on Chinese retailers such as JD.com and Vmall, the company’s official Weibo account finally announced that the tablet would arrive on April 23.
HUAWEI’s newest member of the MatePad line, which was listed on numerous sites as of late, is now more ready to be released than ever, with its key features and specifications already a matter of public record.
A slim slate with solid internals
To keep you in the loop of things, the HUAWEI MatePad 10.4 is confirmed to support a resolution of 1,200 x 2,000 pixels and FHD+ display and slim bezels surrounding the screen. The device is 9mm thick and weighs 810 grams.
For its internals, the HUAWEI MatePad 10.4 is powered by HUAWEI’s in-house HiSilicon Kirin 810 chipset. However, its Pro sibling gets its power from a more efficient Kirin 990 5G SoC, which also offers 5G capabilities.
The 10.4 version, on the other hand, is also set to pack 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The latter can be expanded through the device’s microSD card.
The HUAWEI MatePad 10.4 is also confirmed to work on a massive battery, settling at 7,250mAh capacity.
In the optics department, the MatePad 10.4 is confirmed to offer an 8MP selfie camera. The feature resides in the slate’s top-left bezel. On its rear, the tablet will launch with a similar 8MP sensor, alongside an LED flash.
The MatePad 10.4 was headed to support HUAWEI’s M Pen stylus, with keyboard connectivity included in the mix as well. There is no word, however, whether the device will ship with this accessory or not. A set of Harman Kardon-tuned quad speakers is also bound to be featured.
HUAWEI MatePad Pro 5G’s affordable version
From the looks of the upcoming MatePad 10.4 relative to its features and specifications, the tablet is shaping up to be slotted below the MatePad Pro 5G, which was announced in February 2020. The 4G slate, which should launch with an LTE version, is also expected to ship with a Wi-Fi variant.
Apart from the HUAWEI MatePad 10.4, HUAWEI also revealed previously its plans to announce the HUAWEI nova 7 series on the same date, as mentioned above. The latter will consist of the vanilla nova 7, the nova 7 Pro, and possibly the nova 7 SE.
