The HUAWEI P40 Lite 5G serves as a rebadged nova 7 SE for the European market.
The HUAWEI P40 series has received yet another member in the fold.
The HUAWEI P40 Lite 5G is now official. The latest entry of the P40 lineup is also the newest iteration to make its debut in Europe. The device is the rebadged version of the nova 7 SE, which was launched a month ago. The phone is also a beefed-up variant of the HUAWEI P40 Lite, which the Chinese tech giant unveiled in February 2020.
More than the 5G fanfare
Alongside its obvious 5G add-on, the phone also packs a whole lot of upgrades. These include updated silicon and an improved primary camera.
The phone features a 6.5-inch LTPS LCD with a resolution of 2,400 x 1,080 pixels. Additionally, the phone’s display boasts a hole-punch for its selfie shooter, support for HDR10, and a wide color gamut of 96%.
The HUAWEI P40 Lite 5G also sports an upgraded chipset, the HiSilicon Kirin 820 5G. HUAWEI’s newest homegrown SoC features an ARM Cortex-A76-based core, clocked at 2.36Ghz, alongside 3 ARM Cortec-A76-based cores at 2.22GHz. There are also the four ARM Cortex-A55-based efficiency cores at 1.84Ghz.
Note that the previous model had the Kirin 810 at the time of its launch.
The handset is also coupled with a single 6GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage; the latter is expandable via the company’s NM memory cars. It is also working on a 4,000mAh battery, with support for 40W fast wired charging. HUAWEI claims that the fast charging technology can juice the phone up to 70% of charge in only 30 minutes.
64MP main rear cam
Another highlight of the HUAWEI P40 Lite 5G can be found in its rear camera setup. The device is now equipped with a massive 64MP Sony IMX582 sensor, which frontlines the quad-cam setup on its rear. The primary camera is then accompanied by 8MP wide, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth lenses.
Inside the phone’s display cutout, on the other hand, is a 16MP front-facing snapper.
The HUAWEI P40 Lite 5G also features a 3.5mm headphone jack, Bluetooth 5.1, dual-frequency GPS, NFC, USB Type-C, and side-mounted fingerprint reader. The phone is likewise confirmed to ship with EMUI 10.1, based on the latest Android 10. However, it won’t launch with Google Play Services.
The phone, which is tipped to go on sale on May 29, is currently up for pre-order. With a price of EUR 400, the HUAWEI P40 Lite 5G is one of the cheapest 5G-enabled smartphones in Europe.
