After unveiling its flagship series, Huawei is now gearing up for the launch of a mid-tier offering, the Nova 8 series.
The Huawei Nova 7 SE 5G Youth launched only a few weeks ago, but if rumors are believed, the Nova series’s next-generation phone is also in the works.
Digital Chat Station, a popular tipster, revealed that the Nova 8 series phones would be launched in November 2020. The line-up would compromise Huawei’s Nova 8, Nova 8 Pro, and Nova 8 SE.

Huawei Nova 8 SE: Specifications
According to the leaks featured in a report by Gizmo China, one can make out that Nova 8 SE would come in four colors.
8 SE would feature a similar design language as the Nova 7 SE, with a vertical camera array and a hole-punch out for the selfie shooter.
Since the Nova 7 SE had an in-display fingerprint sensor and no visible fingerprint sensors on the back of the Nova 8 SE as in the renders, it would be safe to assume that Huawei would keep the in-display sensor this time around as well.
An in-display fingerprint sensor would also mean that Huawei would be using an OLED panel.
According to a report by NDTV, the smartphone may be launched with two CPU variants. The cheaper model would feature a MediaTek Dimensity 720 SoC, while the premium one would feature a MediaTek Dimensity 800U SoC. Both of these chips have 5G connectivity.
Huawei Nova 8 SE: Bigger upgrades
There are also some rumored developments in the battery segment of the phone.
The Nova 8 SE could be featuring a 3,800 mAh battery, which is a little small compared to the industry’s standards.
It is believed that Huawei would use the same 66W fast charging technology as used in the recently launched Mate 40 series.
However, the Nova 8 series’s most significant change is believed to be the body of the phone.
Weighing just 178 grams and with a thickness of only 7.46mm, the Nova 8 SE would be a lightweight phone.
As for the camera department, the Nova 8 SE is rumored to have a 48 MP primary sensor coupled with an 8 MP ultra-wide sensor. The remaining two sensors would be 2MP each.
Pricing and launch date
The previous generation Nova 7 SE 5G Youth was launched at an introductory price of 2,299 Yuan ($342).
It would be safe to assume that the Nova 8 SE would come at around $350 with similar specifications.
There is no concrete proof that the Nova 8 series would launch in November as for the launch date.
However, many tipsters in China believe that the Nova 8 SE would be announced in the first week of November itself, along with the launch of Honor V40.
