Hugh Jackman lost his chance this year in The Primetime Emmy Awards, and fans could not believe that this actor defeated him.
Among his countless number of movies and series, Hugh Jackman’s 17-year-old run as Wolverine surpassed everything on the record. When he announced that he was done playing the character, he accepted more roles, including the Broadway ones.
After conquering the big screens and home cinemas, Hugh continued to show the best side of him on HBO’s Bad Education.
Indeed, his work truly caught people’s hearts again after he got the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie nomination from Emmys for that role.
However, in a most unexpected moment, he lost the title to a co-Marvel star.
Who Defeated Hugh Jackman?
Yes, Jackman lost – and yes, Mark Ruffalo defeated him.
Hulk’s actor grabbed his first acting Emmy Award for his performance as brothers Dominick and Thomas Birdsey in I Know This Much Is True.
During his virtual acceptance speech, he credited the series’ director, Derek Cianfrance, for creating something beautiful. The actor added that the award would not be handed to him if it was not because of Derek.
“The rest of the cast, you gave career-defining performances. I believe great acting happens between performers at the moment,” he went on.
What “I Know This Much Is True” Is All About
Aside from thanking the whole cast, Ruffalo also spoke about mental illness in America and connected it to the show.
Per the 52-year-old actor, the show unveils the story of a man whose brother that has a mental illness.
“We have to come together with love for each other. And if we have privilege, we have to fight for those who are less fortunate and more vulnerable. That’s what great about America, our diversity,” he went on.
Ruffalo’s film is based on Wally Lamb’s book with the same title. This marks his second Emmy nomination for acting and first win ever.
Jackman Reacted to Ruffalo’s Win
In this year’s battle of two Marvel superhero actors, the Hulk beat Wolverine.
Despite that, Jackman showed the most genuine reaction when Ruffalo defeated him.
The 51-year-old Australian actor applauded and shouted approval on his co-Marvel star in a viral video posted online.
Meanwhile, his fans praised him back for supporting everyone, although he failed to grab a nod on this year’s Emmys.
