'Hyper Scape' release confirmed for next-gen consoles

Console gamers won’t have to wait as Hyper Scape will soon be available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

With the initial attempt Hyper Scape to penetrate the battle royale arena, it looks like the console versions for this game has been confirmed.

Recently, First Watch Games also released its rendition of battle royale called Rogue Company, and it looks like the competition is getting tougher for this genre.

Hyper Scape has been receiving mixed reviews on Kotaku and IGN since the start of the open beta. Between the two reviews, IGN had the most interesting take wherein battle royale should encourage players to fight, but Hyper Scape has some tendency to do the opposite.

While it’s too early to say, Ubisoft may try to keep the hype alive with the console versions approaching sooner than we think. They just released a limited-time game mode for their open beta.

Focus on optimizing frame rates for consoles

In an interview with SegmentNext, creative director Jean-Christophe Guyot confirmed that Hyper Scape would be available on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X as he added:

“We are currently looking into developing specific features and performances for next-gen. With the fast pace of the game we always prioritize responsiveness and frame rate.”

Guyot also said that the versions that they will release for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X would be the same versions as with the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One counterparts.

In addition, he did not confirm when the optimizations for the next-gen consoles will be completed for Hyper Scape, but at least he gave us an assurance that the frame rates would be much better to take advantage of the new hardware.

Looking forward to the new season ahead

It was also mentioned in the interview that Hyper Scape would support cross-play. This means that rewards players get in playing the open beta in PC will get carried over to whatever console the player chooses.

The ongoing open beta on PC currently has a 30-tier free battle pass full of cosmetic items. When the first season officially begins, Hyper Scape will receive a new battle pass on all platforms along with its new sets of unlockable items.

Ubisoft has not confirmed if the season one battle pass would involve micro-transactions similar to what they’ve done to Rainbow Six Siege, or will they allow the players to grind for the rewards.

There is no date yet for the start of season one, but the open beta has been ongoing since July 12.
