‘Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity’ announced by Nintendo, release soon

Nintendo keeps catching fans off-guard recently, and this time, their most recent surprise is for The Legend of Zelda fans. Fans are now eager to get their hands on the upcoming Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, which launches a few months from now.

While fans have a long wait before the release of The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2fans have something else to look forward to. In a surprise announcement, the company has revealed Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. Here’s everything we know so far about the upcoming game.

Release date and  platform

The announced game will be coming pretty soon as it launches on Nov. 20, 2020. As expected, it’s going to be a Nintendo Switch exclusive. As per Nintendo, there will be more revealed about the game on Sept. 26, so fans might get to see some actual gameplay at the upcoming stream.

What is the game about?

Hyrule Warriors is a spin-off series of The Legend of Zelda. It’s made by Koei Tecmo, the people behind the acclaimed Dynasty Warriors games. Hyrule Warriors is vastly different from any other The Legend of Zelda game as it’s more action-oriented and it pits players off against hundreds of enemies.

The first Hyrule Warriors was launched for the Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, and Switch. It included a lot of familiar faces from The Legend of Zelda franchise and the game was a good hit as most fans would say. Despite being a spin-off, many fans believed that it was an excellent game.

Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity is set 100 years before the events of The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild. Nintendo wants fans to see exactly what happened to Link, Zelda, and the Four Champions before they fell while defending Hyrule from Calamity Ganon.

While this story was explored in The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wildit was in no way expounded on in the game’s story.

In terms of gameplay, players of Dynasty Warriors pretty much knows what they can expect from Hyrule Warriors. Hopefully, there’s a lot of content in Age of Calamity as much as there was in the first Hyrule Warriors game.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity launches this Nov. 20 for the Nintendo Switch. More will be revealed about the game this Sept. 26. We’ve yet to see actual gameplay, but it’s likely that we will on the upcoming stream.
