Immortals Fenyx Rising has a brand new trailer that shows off new monsters. The game also shows off some of the gameplay, together with what fans can expect.
Once called Gods & Monsters, Immortals Fenyx Rising released two new trailers at the recent Ubisoft Forward event. In the event, Ubisoft revealed the upcoming release date. They also offered an excellent taste of how the game works.
Players will embark on a journey of mythological proportions
Fenyx Rising follows a default female hero, Fenyx, introduced as the “hero to the gods.” The world of immortals seemingly implies that the gods had their powers sealed off. It’s up to the player to collect them and journey throughout the land.
So far, the trailer shows Fenyx fighting against a minotaur and traversing, what is likely, fantasy Greece. There are also harpies and a humanoid spider that looks like the Hecatoncheires. Players will encounter giants, monsters, and even Medusa herself.
The game is on-point with its mythological callbacks. Players can wield different weapons and elemental powers. What stands out the most is the lightning powers, likely from Zeus, and the winged Daedalus armor.
The game looks superb and bombastic, with visual styles similar to Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The hues they use are fantastic, and for fans who want to play BoTW without a Switch, this is a great analog.
Fenyx Rising is based off the Theogony
Immortals Fenyx Rising offered a second trailer that showed off the game’s lore and gameplay. Fenyx is a Greek Warrior, marooned off the mysterious Golden Isle. Players will meet Hermes, who will ask the hero to save the gods from Typhon.
Typhon is the Ganondorf-type enemy in Fenyx Rising. In mythology, he’s the youngest son of Gaea and Tartarus and holds a hundred dragon heads. As Typhon has overwhelmed the gods, it seems the story comes during the battle between Typhon and Zeus.
Typhon overwhelmed all the gods, including Zeus, until the lightning bolts defeated him. Ubisoft will likely follow the Theogony story, putting Fenyx in the middle of everything.
Fenyx Rising comes off as a cross between Breath of the Wild and God of War. Players will start with Fenyx’s customizable appearance. From there, they will begin to getting weapons, abilities, and a variety of blessings from the gods.
The trailer confirmed that the item that players can wield the most is the Wings of Daedalus. With the wings, players can jump higher and glide freely throughout the world. Like Zelda, the game also has platforming and puzzles in it.
Immortals Fenyx Rising will come out on December 3, in time for the holiday season. It will likely be available on PC, as well as the current and next-gen consoles.
