The Infinix Zero 8 brings many “firsts” to the series, which include a 90Hz refresh rate display and MediaTek’s Helio G90T chip.
Infinix has announced the Zero 8 smartphone, its newest stab in the budget-friendly mid-range segment. Launched in the Indonesian market, the Shenzen-based phone maker’s latest device is also one of its most noted as it brings a set of upgrades on the series’ design and internals.
90Hz LCD panel with an impeccable rear design
For instance, the Infinix Zero 8 is built around a 6.85-inch IPS LCD panel (the company refers to its as Smooth Display) with a high 90Hz refresh rate. There is a pill-shaped cutout, which houses two front-facing snappers. Meanwhile, the high refresh rate is accompanied by a 180Hz touch sampling rate.
Another highlight of the phone can be found on its rear. The device is the first in the lineup to introduce a quadruple-camera setup that is housed in a rhombus-shaped module, which is nothing short of sublime at first glance. A 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 sensor headlines the system; the primary camera can record 4K videos and has EIS alongside.
Accompanying the primary camera on its rear is an 8MP ultrawide snapper and two 2MP shooters for depth and low-light videos. All the sensors on the back collectively feature dedicated sensors for Bokeh and Ultra Night Videos.
Inside the phone’s display cutout are the dual 48MP and 8MP selfie cameras.
Gaming-centric Helio G90T chip and 4,500mAh battery
The Infinix Zero 8 has solid internals as well. At the helm is MediaTek’s Helio G90T chipset, which makes this phone an ideal one for gaming. The device is then hooked up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage; the latter is expandable via the handset’s microSD card slot.
The phone is also listed with a massive 4,500mAh battery, with support for 33W SuperCharge (fast wired charging) and USB Type-C.
On the other hand, the fingerprint scanner of the device is mounted on its right side. Other key features include Bluetooth 5.0, dedicated FM radio, and 3.5mm headphone jack. The phone also supports face unlock. It runs on XOS 7, based on the latest Android 10.
The Infinix Zero 8 is priced at IDR 3,799,00 and is set to go on sale on Aug. 31. The phone is also expected to go global on Sept. 1 with a USD 250 price tag. It will retail in three color variants – Green Diamond, Black Diamond, and Silver Diamond.
