Insomniac’s Spider-Man was one of the best games on the PlayStation 4 and is quite possibly the best superhero game ever. Since launching in 2018, the game has left a mark on the minds of fans who are eagerly waiting for the next installment.
Due to its success, players have no doubt that Insomniac will work on a sequel to Spider-Man eventually. After almost two years, it seems like we’re getting more details on the next game through a leak.
Although the leaks sound pretty promising, players should still take it with a grain of salt.
Story details sound interesting enough
According to the leaks, the game will center around Peter Parker’s battle with the Symbiote. It also sees Parker returning to the Daily Bugle along with J. Jonah Jameson, who’s going to work as his Editor-in-Chief again.
The game will apparently put the Symbiote in the hands of Harry Osborne, first thus corrupting him entirely. Eventually, the Symbiote will move into Parker, thus resulting in the iconic Venom suit of Spider-Man. After a while, the Symbiote will then move into Eddie Brock, who will become Venom, the main protagonist of the game.
Venom and the Symbiotes were completely absent from the first game leading fans to believe that they will become a big part of the story in the sequel. Interestingly enough, having Osborne as the original host is a unique take on what Spider-man’s fans have been used to.
Release date and gameplay details
The leaks suggest that the game will release during the 2021 holiday season. That being said, it will be a PlayStation 5 exclusive, which isn’t surprising considering that the console will launch by the end of this year.
As for gameplay details, the leaks say that there will be choices in the game. These choices can alter the story in some way, meaning players can get different outcomes by the end of the game.
Aside from these, players should also expect Mysterio side-missions in the game. As for Miles Morales, who gained spidey powers at the end of the first game, there could be instances where players will maneuver through the city of New York as Morales’ version of everyone’s favorite superhero.
Spider-Man 2 is shaping up to be an exciting title, but then again, these are just leaks for now. Hopefully, the pandemic doesn’t delay the development, so we’ll get the game on the schedule. We might even get actual details from the developers soon.
