The popular social media application owned by Facebook celebrates its 10th anniversary by going back to its roots.
Instagram started as a photo-sharing application on October 6, 2010, and the company rolled out a special update to celebrate the occasion.
The current version of Instagram now supports features like messaging, stories, video calls, and more. Instagram teased an easter egg for the occasion via Twitter using emojis, which was later cracked by the users.

The social media platform seems to be going back to its roots by adding the option to restore the classic Instagram logo by a set of simple steps.
How to find the classic logo
To switch to the classic Instagram logo, one would have to open the Settings in the application. Once in the Settings option, swipe down hard on the screen a couple of times to access the hidden menu.
The menu to add the classic logos to the screen would pop up with a confetti animation.
The user would be greeted with the message: “To celebrate our birthday, this month we’re inviting you to change your app icon to your favorite below.” One can add any Instagram logo from the past to the users’ home screens from this menu.
According to a CNET report, Instagram included some custom logos with dark, light, and very dark themes. However, it must be noted that the feature varies depending on the operating system of the user.
Furthermore, there is a huge possibility that the application would remove the feature from the upcoming updates, according to a report by The Verge.
Other features on the new Instagram update
The social media application added an easter egg to the update, making the users very excited. In particular, it comes with the addition of a new feature called Stories Map.
Stories Map is a more nuanced version of the Story Archive function on the application. The said feature only shows the stories uploaded for the past three years in an organized manner, like that of a calendar.
On top of the upgrade, there have been significant improvements in the well-being features of the application.
With the new update, the company aims to reduce undesirable interactions on the applications, like bullying and harassment. Instagram would now hide potentially offensive comments. However, the user can still view them after reporting.
Similarly, the social media application will warn users repeatedly trying to post offensive comments on posts. But for the time being, the new feature’s rollout out is still unclear.
