Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon, a spin-off of the famous anime series Inuyasha, will start airing this fall.
The anime series Inuyasha was widely popular during its run time in the year 1996-2010. The show has aired a total of 193 episodes in a span of 14 years. However, there are apparently more stories left to tell since a spin-off, entitled Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon is expected.
Inuyasha announced new spin-off series
Earlier this year, the official website of Inuyasha announced the news regarding the spin-off. In addition, the website posted character designs as well as a short description for each one. Along with these exciting details, the team who will work on the aforementioned spin-off has also been revealed.
Teruo Sato, Inuyasha’s former episode director, will helm the spin-off at Sunrise Production. Katsuyuki Sumisawa is in charge of the series scripts. He has done the same for Inuyasha and Mobile Suit Gundam Wing.
Meanwhile, Rumiko Takahashi, who was Inuyasha and Yashahime’s creator, was credited as the main character designer. Consequently, Yoshihito Hishinuma will adapt her designs for the animation.

Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon release window revealed
Recently, Inuyasha fans and those who have been thirsting for more information about its spin-off have been graced with good news. The official website of Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon announced that the forthcoming spin-off will air this fall.
As per the announcement, each episode will drop on Yomiuri TV / Nihon TV network across Japan every Saturday at 17:30 (JST). However, Viz Media confirmed that it will license the title in the United States. Hence, fans are hoping that the anime spin-off will have a simulcast on Crunchyroll.
Yashahime: Princess Half Demon plot
Yashahime is set in feudal Japan, years after the end of Inuyasha. The official synopsis of Viz Media for the forthcoming installment reads:
“Half-demon twins Towa and Setsuna are separated from each other during a forest fire. While desperately searching for her younger sister, Towa wanders into a mysterious tunnel that sends her to present-day Japan, where she is found and raised by Kagome Higurashi’s brother, Sota, and his family.
Ten years later, the tunnel that connects the two eras has reopened, allowing Towa to be reunited with Setsuna, who is now a demon slayer working for Kohaku. But to Towa’s shock, Setsuna appears to have lost all memories of her older sister. Joined by Moroha, the daughter of Inuyasha and Kagome, the three young women travel between the eras on an adventure to regain their missing past.”
What happened in Inuyasha
Inuyasha centered on the adventures of Kagome Higurashi. The 15-year old girl was from modern-day Tokyo but was later transported to the Sengoku period of Japan. There, she met the half dog-demon, Inuyasha.
When a monster from the era tried to take the magical Shikon Jewel embodied in Kagome, she inadvertently shattered the Jewel into many pieces and scattered it across Japan. Inuyasha and Kagome set on a quest to recover the jewel, before the half spider-demon lord Naraku binds it.
