Apple’s iPad shipments are likely to remain stable in the second quarter of 2021, despite a major shortage of chips, as per a new report.
The recently launched iPad Pro models might result in a better scenario for Apple, even in a phase of global chip scarcity.
iPad units expected to enjoy more growth
The present shortage is a result of supply chain issues that first emerged during the pandemic phase. Its also due to the weather-related situations like freeze in Texas, causing a shutdown of Austin chip plants.
Factories struggled in delivering more units during COVID-19 since last year, amid lockdowns.
On the other hand, people showed interest in purchasing devices for work-from-home purposes. And that’s where everything became chaotic, in terms of the availability of multiple, popular products.
iPad is among the most-used devices across the globe when it comes to tablets.
However, there’s been an overall decline in tablet production in general in the first quarter of this year.
Here’s an excerpt from Digitimes’ report:
“The sequential shipment decline in the first quarter was due to slow-season effect and volumes in the second quarter are expected to continue suffering from seasonality, witnessing a sequential drop of 6.6%.”
After Apple unveiled the new iPad Pro with M1 chips, many analysts hope that it will boost the interest in tablets once again.
The 12.9-inch product is set to launch on May 21st. Bloomberg is still likely to suffer a shortage of units due to the lack of Mini-LEDs used in the device.

Upcoming Apple announcements and reveals
Meanwhile, the California tech giant is busy working on its slate for this calendar. Similar to 2020, it will try to continue its flow of revenue.
And for that purpose, there will be lots of product announcements to keep tech enthusiasts hooked.
Speaking of announcements, then in June, the WWDC event will take place. It will be, once again, a virtual session.
The main highlight of the conference will be the next software version, iOS 15. It’s expected to bring a ton of features and refinements when it comes to UI design changes.
Furthermore, the second half of the year will also see an upgrade for the Apple Watch line-up with Series 7.
However, the major attraction for everyone will be the next generation of the company’s smartphones.
iPhone 13 is rumored to come up with many additions, such as a faster refresh rate and a 1TB storage option. Substantial leaks and reports have even speculated that might launch the new series in late September.
