The iPadOS 14 was released on Wednesday, and the Apple Pencil features can ultimately transform note-taking for many.
Apple announced the latest installment in the iPad Air lineup. The product is a seamless edge-to-edge screen tablet that looks and feels like the iPad Pro. Without breaking the bank, users can get all the features that they need from a tablet. Emphasis on ‘need’ because the iPad Pro features can be a little over the top for some.
To put the cherry on top, the iPad Air 4 also comes with the latest iPadOS 14. The new operating system on the tablet takes the functionality of the portable device up a notch. Below are two of its most important upgrades to be enjoyed.
iPadOS 14 has a wonderful Apple Pencil upgrade pack
Apple is making sure that the Apple Pencil isn’t left to be a footnote in the iPad system. As such, every upgrade that it releases, it gives more and more power to the accessory. By itself, it is already a powerful tool for creators and note-takers. However, Apple just made the system even better.
The iPadOS 14 comes with a Scribble feature that automatically digitizes any recognizable text or shape written on the screen. It can detect dates, sentences, phone numbers, and many more. As for shapes, it converts any irregularly drawn shape into a perfectly drawn form.
The Scribble feature is also applicable to search bars. In other words, users do not have to put their Apple Pencils down just to type down anything. They can just go straight to any search bar and scribble their queries or searches away.
Borrowed facelift upgrades from the iOS 14
The iPadOS 14 also now allows for widgets to be used in the system. However, it is only available in the Today tab. Users can now finally see more details on each app, such as Weather and Time, without having to open the app.
iPadOS 14 also now supports a less obtrusive experience using the tablet. Calls do not take over the whole screen anymore. Instead, users are only prompted with a dropdown tab that they can easily ignore, accept, or cancel if they want to. Calling for Siri’s help is now a breeze too because it also doesn’t have to take over the screen when it is prompted.
The new operating system for the iPads can run with iPad Air 2 and later, iPad mini 4 and later, iPad 5th Gen and later, and all iPad Pro models.
