Apple just announced four new iPhone 12 models with the addition of the iPhone 12 Mini as the newest member of the company’s smartphone.
The Hi, Speed event of Apple just wrapped up, and it focused only on two device lineups. First, the company’s latest and most compact smart home speaker, the HomePod Mini. Second, the four new iPhone 12 models.
As expected, the focus of the new smartphone models was 5G. All four new phones come with 5G bands capable of ultra-fast download and upload speeds. With this, content creators, gamers, or just the casual series-binger can enjoy HD content in an instant.
All four phones also deliver a more durable screen using Ceramic Shield. Apple touts this as the strongest screen that they’ve ever made. It reportedly has four times resistance to damage from drops.
iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini gets incremental upgrades
Last year, Apple announced only three phones, namely the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and the iPhone 11 Pro Max. This year, it introduced a more user-friendly iPhone in terms of form factor. Without sacrificing any of the features of the iPhone 12, the iPhone 12 Mini packs a punch in just a tiny 5.4-inch screen size.
Also, as expected, the newest smartphones from Apple come with the latest A14 processor. This allows for a super-fast experience in gaming and multi-tasking. It is also equipped with a 6-core CPU and 4-core GPU making it one of the best chipset out in the market.
The iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini also has a slightly better camera than the previous model. It now has a 12-MP ultra-wide lens and a 12-MP wide lens. Both of these lenses, while working with the A14 chip’s image signal processing, deliver only the sharpest and most vibrant photos possible.
The iPhone 12 will be available for pre-order starting on October 16 and will start shipping on October 23. The iPhone 12 Mini, on the other hand, will be available for pre-order starting on November 6 and will begin shipping on November 13.
iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max are just smaller iPads
The Pro versions of the latest smartphones share the same features as their entry-level counterparts. However, the Pro models have an additional camera and an extra sensor. Both of these allow for even smarter photography experience.
The additional camera lens of the Pro model is a 12MP telephoto lens. On the other hand, the additional sensor is the expected LiDAR scanner that is equipped with the refreshed iPad Pro released earlier this year.
The iPhone 12 Pro has a 6.5-inch ProMotion display, while the iPhone 12 Pro Max has a 6.7-inch ProMotion screen. The former will ship with the iPhone 12, while the latter will ship with the iPhone 12 Mini.
