The launch of the iPhone 12 series is still months away, but dummy units of Apple’s new mobiles based on leaked schematics have started surfacing.
As per the latest leaked dummy unit, the Apple iPhone 12 will have a 5.4-inch compared to the original iPhone SE and iPhone 7 in terms of size.
The comparison has been managed by iZac, a member of the MacRumors forum, who purchased the dummy unit of the forthcoming iPhone model.
The reason for the iPhone 12’s size is that it drops the Touch ID or the home button on the iPhone SE and iPhone 7 and that it features skinny bezels compared to the said phones. The iPhone 12 will use Face recognition, which takes up a lot less room than Touch ID. There’s also a rumor that the notch on the iPhone 12 will be smaller than the iPhone 11.
5.4-inch iPhone 12 just leaked
Apple iPhone 12 dummy models based on leaked schematics have been rising to circulate online, especially in online marketplaces. Despite having a larger display compared to the iPhone 7, the new Apple smartphone is more compact, slim, and cute, which means it should be easy to use with only one hand.
Aside from that, the leaked schematic dummy unit also shows off flat sides and more squared-off edges. If that dummy is the basis, it shows that Apple will make the upcoming phone more comfortable to grip than the iPhone 11.
Size Comparison to Older iPhones
iZac found that the rumored 5.4″ iPhone is about 6mm wider than the original iPhone SE and about 3mm narrower than the iPhone 7. “It’s ~6mm wider than the iPhone SE and ~3mm thinner than the iPhone 7,” he said. For those who don’t remember, the original iPhone SE had a 4-inch display and the iPhone 7 had a 4.7-inch panel — similar to the iPhone SE 2020.
There is much speculation that Apple is doing the right job in making its new flagship phone more natural to use and hold. Reports said the American-based company is releasing an iPhone 12 of this size as potentially replacing its original iPhone SE.
Take note that the Apple new iPhone series will be released this fall in three different variants of different sizes. Reports indicate we’ll see a 5.4-inch iPhone, a 6.7-inch iPhone, and two 6.1-inch iPhones. The 5.4 inch is smaller than the current iPhone 11 Pro, while the 6.7 inch is bigger than the current iPhone 11 Pro Max.
