The iPhone 12 Pro Max is the United States’ most popular smartphone, according to data gathered by Ookla and M Science.
2020 was a big year for Apple, albeit the pandemic. It hit a few snags throughout the year. Nevertheless, it still came out stronger than ever before. Apple not only launched the latest M1 computers, but it also released four new iPhones.
Never before, in Apple’s history, did it launch more than three units in a quarter. The strategy paid off at least based on the popularity data gathered by third-party websites.
iPhone 12 Pro Max smashes popularity ranking in the U.S.
Last year, Apple released the four latest iPhone 12 series smartphones. Among these four, the iPhone 12 Pro max, which is the priciest and most stacked smartphone, is the most popular in the United States. The ranking was based on the data gathered by M Science and Ookla, which is the mother company of Speedtest.net. The report says,
“M Science directly tracks sales, and gave us cumulative sales figures up until Jan. 23. Ookla looks at the usage of its Speedtest apps on consumers’ phones, and gave us data for tests taken in January. They agree that the iPhone 12 Pro Max is the most popular 5G phone in the US.”
Of course, this data has to be taken with a grain of salt as the usage of speedtest.net is not a conclusive source of popularity. Nevertheless, it gives an indicative idea that the iPhone 12 Pro Max is the most used phone across several states in the U.S.
Following the iPhone 12 Pro Max in the list is the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 Pro respectively. Unfortunately for the iPhone 12 Mini, it didn’t even make it to the top five. Instead, the Samsung Galaxy S20+ and the Galaxy S20 Ultra completed the top five in the list.
Toss up between iPhone 12s and the iPhone 13
This 2021, Apple is still planning whether to release a totally new phone or just a slight upgrade from the iPhone 12. If it’s the former, then an iPhone 13 is underway. However, if it’s the latter, then what could be in the works is the iPhone 12s.
Nonetheless, there are still a couple of confirmed details on the next iPhone. First and foremost is that the notch is here to stay. Apple is not yet ready to let go of the infamous notch on the iPhone. Second, the iPhone will most definitely have better support for wireless charging coming from the MagSafe charger. Lastly, Apple will still not ship EarPods nor wall brick chargers with the phones.
