The iPhone 12 release will be pushed back to October because of production delays brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Apple will be extremely busy in the next three months. They announced today that there would be an online event on September 15. They didn’t clarify as to which devices will be released by then. However, if it’s any indication, the event’s official press release tagline is ‘Time flies.’ It would be safe to say that it is referring to the Apple Watch.
There are two watches expected to be released on the day itself. Unfortunately, no iPhones are foreseen to make an appearance alongside the wearables.
iPhone 12 release forced to be pushed back to October
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who accurately predicted the announcement today, says that iPhone fans will have to wait a little longer. He said that Apple would only release the Apple Watches and a new iPad on the September 15 event.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 12 will have to wait until October for its release. This isn’t a surprise for many, as representatives from Apple has confirmed this last month. However, many fans expected the new flagship phones to be released with the other Apple products.
The reason for the pushed back release is obvious, and that is because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier this year, factories around the world were forced to shut down to keep people in their homes. Even Apple itself had to close down several of its stores and offices to comply with government rules.
What to expect from the new flagship phones
According to Gurman, the new iPhones will have a redesigned cases, updated cameras, and 5G capabilities. However, not all models will get the fastest mmWave 5G bands. Only the iPhone 12 Pro Max released in the United States, Japan, and Korea will get the model equipped with this 5G antenna.
Apple’s latest flagship phones are also expected to go back to one of its most successful design languages, which is the boxy edges. The phones are foreseen to follow the body of the iPad Pro, which is also similar to the late and great iPhone 4.
The Bloomberg report didn’t clarify if other Apple products will be released with the iPhone. However, earlier reports indicate that Apple is set to release a refreshed product line this year. It will include a new over-ear headphone, a resized Apple HomePod, and new Apple AirTags, to name a few.
Also, the specific date for the launch of the iPhone 12 will probably be announced during the September 15 event. If not, it will definitely be announced a week before its official launch.
