Apple will release either the iPhone 12s or the iPhone 13 this year, but it will most likely just get minimal upgrades from the models last year.
Last year, Apple made a big splash in the smartphone market despite the pandemic. After several months of suppressed sales due to strict global lockdowns, Apple cashed in during the last quarter of 2020. It released four different phones, which catered to a wide audience.
This year, it is reportedly planning to release another set of phones with slight upgrades from the models in 2020. Apple has still yet to make an announcement when it will start the production of these phones. However, rumors are already going around as to how they will look like.
Below is a roundup of the leaked details on the iPhone 12s or the iPhone 13.
The name could be iPhone 12s or iPhone 13
There is still a toss-up between the possible name of the next iPhone. Internally, Apple reportedly calls the phone with an “S” upgrade.
In other words, the next iPhone will most likely just get minimal upgrades from the previous model. If this holds true, then 2020 buyers of the iPhone can sit tight because they will not miss out on a lot.

Similar model lineup from 2020
For the first time since its release, the iPhone had four unique models launched in 2020. It had the iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and the iPhone 12 Pro Max.
As the name of the first model suggests, the iPhone 12 Mini is just a smaller model of the regular-sized iPhone 12. The same will most likely be released this year despite a lackluster performance. After all, there is still a market out there that likes to hold their phones with a snug fit.
The rest of the other models are also expected to get minimal upgrades with the same screen size. This is especially true for the iPhone 12 Pro and the Pro Max because these two outperformed their cheaper counterparts in the same lineup.
FaceID will be here to stay for another year
For many years now, Apple has always been rumored to let go of FaceID. However, time and time again, they debunk this rumor in every launch. It seems like the same technology will be maintained for 2021’s iPhone models. After all, Apple maintains that it only wants the best security for its users.
Nevertheless, Apple may still find a way to integrate TouchID with the new iPhones this year. It will most likely be an in-screen fingerprint sensor, which could actually be true because the next iPhones are rumored to be slightly thicker than the 2020 models.
