In a matter of days, Apple will release the company’s first-ever 5G phone lineup. There will be up to four iPhone 12 phones if the rumors are true. The design language will also be similar to the iPad Pro, which took inspiration from the boxy iPhone 4 during Steve Job’s era.
While the newest phone hasn’t seen the light of day, the people over at Apple are allegedly working on the iPhone 13. For those eagerly waiting for the iPhone 12, they may want to hold on to their hard-earned money in the meantime.
As early as now, famous Apple leakers, Ross Young, Jon Prosser, and Ice Universe, are all busy sleuthing through Apple’s development. One thing they agree about is Apple will definitely do something about the notch on the iPhone 13.
However, they disagree on how Apple will do this. Ice Universe thinks that Apple will make the notch shallower. In other words, the notch will provide a slightly wider display in portrait or landscape mode. Jon Prosser, meanwhile, thinks that the notch on the iPhone 13 will just be narrower in width.
These bits of information most likely come from the very early stage of the iPhone 13’s development. As such, they could either be right or wrong. Nonetheless, it is a good thing that Apple is doing something about the dated notch design.
Apple puts a great emphasis on the security of the FaceID, but along with it comes tons of sensors that need to be housed on the notch. Fortunately, Ross Young shares that the TouchID could be making a comeback on the iPhone 13. This time, instead of being a physical home button or side button, the TouchID could be in-display.
Apple is again playing the catch-up game in the application of this technology. Several Android phones have already had this system installed as early as 2017. Nevertheless, having it with the iPhone 13 is still a good consolation.
5G technology in 2020 is still relatively expensive. As such, Apple has, allegedly, decided to limit equipping the fastest bands only on the iPhone 12 Pro Max.
Fans should expect the company to make up for this as 5G bands become cheaper in the following years. As early as 2021, smartphone followers can expect the prices of 5G phones to drop significantly as more smartphones use such technology.
