The features of the iPhone 13 will be like a holiday wish list for many as it integrates many of the upgrades sought for in the iPhone 12.
More and more people around the world are getting their hands on the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 Pro. A few weeks from today, the next batch of the iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 Pro buyers will get their chance.
The reviews on the first two models are in, and it is a mixed bag of the good and the bad. It’s good because 5G has arrived in a relatively all-new form factor. It is bad because Apple had to cut some corners to make the new features possible.
However, there is no need to fret as the recent rumors on the iPhone 13 will settle the problems once and for all. As such, the buyer wanting an impending upgrade may want to wait a little longer.
iPhone 13 features will have 5G without the compromises
The iPhone 12 is Apple’s first-ever 5G device. Similar to other prototype devices, they normally come out unpolished. In the iPhone 12’s case, it had to compromise on the battery size because of internal real estate problems.
It carries the current Snapdragon X55 5G modem, which is clunky, expensive, and drains the battery fast. Moreover, it isn’t largely supported in many countries around the world.
Instead of the X55, Apple will allegedly use the X60 modem next year. The newer model can be integrated into the chipset system of Apple for more space-saving. It will also be more battery efficient. In other words, the smaller battery size problem on the iPhone 12 will no longer be an issue when running 5G.
Other features to look forward to in the successor
With the 5G modem already being more battery-efficient, this means that Apple may finally integrate the 120Hz ProMotion display on the iPhone 13.
Speaking of the display, there are mixed rumors whether Apple will, once and for all, let go of the notch. Other premium smartphones already support an in-display fingerprint scanner, and Apple could allegedly go with this too. However, they’ll take it up a notch by making the entire lower half of the screen a fingerprint scanner.
If this happens, maybe Apple can finally let go of the dated notch which supports FaceID. Moreover, it will also be a future-proof phone as wearing masks around the world becomes integrated into the new normal life.
The new iPhone could also be released completely portless. The company has hinted that this future could be a possibility. Instead of pushing for a port, Apple is going for more integrated charging with the MagSafe. In other words, ports on the iPhone could be a thing of the past.
