Apple is said to offer the best deals for the best price this year through a rumored new iPhone 12 and iPad. Android should probably start worrying.
It isn’t a good year for the consumer tech industry as the novel coronavirus pandemic continues to disrupt not just businesses but society itself. The challenges won’t stop Apple, however, from delivering the best offers this year. Speculation continues to grow that a new iPhone and iPad could be released this year.
Times are changing, even for Apple
Apple is definitely not a brand that would commonly be associated with the term “affordable.” But with Apple releasing the new iPhone SE, the company has shown that it can release affordable options for consumers.
Times are changing and Apple is willing to adapt to these changes. Apple recently released the iPhone SE in April and it was quickly dubbed CEO Tim Cook as “faster than the fastest Android.” This is all thanks to the A13 chip which is said to be the most powerful mobile processor in the industry today.
But what made the iPhone SE stood out, even more, is its price. At only $399, the smartphone’s price cannot compare to the power it can give to its user. Consumers are basically getting more value at a lesser price.
Affordable 5G iPhone
John Prosser has been known for accurately leaking details of Apple products in the past. His most recent spot-on prediction was the iPhone SE, correctly deducing its price and release. Now, the Apple analyst has leaked more details regarding the iPhone 12 in his YouTube channel, Front Page Tech.
According to him, the starting price of the iPhone 12 is $649. It will come in four models specifically the lower-end 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch models and the higher 6.1-inch Pro and 6.7-inch Pro Max models.
The 5.4-inch has the lowest price of $649. But upgrading it to the 256GB, 6.1-inch model would raise that price to $749. Prosser says the Pro and Pro Max models are priced at $999 and $1099 respectively.
All of the iPhone 12 models will have an OLED screen and more than that, they are all 5G capable. This means that Apple will be releasing two 5G capable phones at below $800. This does not bode well with the expensive 5G lineup of Samsung which starts at $999 and other Android devices such as the Google Pixel 5 and the One Plus 8.
A new iPad is in the works
Tech analyst and reputable Apple insider Ming-chi Kuo recently revealed that Apple will be releasing a new and affordable iPad sometime this year. Apple could release Two new iPads: a 10.8-inch iPad and an iPad Mini around 8.5 to 9 inches.
Kuo says the bigger iPad will launch in the second half of 2020 while the iPad Mini will follow in the first half of 2021.
“We predict that Apple will launch the new 10.8 inch iPad and 8.5–9 inch iPad mini models in 2H20 and 1H21, respectively,” Kuo wrote in a note. “The two new iPad models will follow iPhone SE’s product strategy, and selling points will be the affordable price tag and the adoption of fast chips.”
If what Kuo says is true, then the new iPads could get a powerful new processor and a slashed price that would make it more attractive to consumers.
Apple is certainly all about high performance and low-cost this year. This is proven by the iPhone SE and the upcoming iPhone 12 and iPad which are both speculated for release this year.
